I purchased an lxxx-gallon electric water heater in 2009 with a 'Lifetime' warranty. When the unit failed in 2021, I was told that Whirlpool no longer manufactures an 80-gallon tank. I was provided an R/A# and was told that Lowe'southward should honor it with a 'like-kind' replacement unit of measurement. Lowe's originally suggested I order an AO Smith Hybrid online, (at my expense), return my old tank, and they would reimburse my account. When I went back to confirm this offering, it was adjusted to a $200 credit (suggesting that was the value at the fourth dimension of purchase). Later, Lowe's once again adjusted their offer to comprehend $650 toward a replacement 50-gallon tank with a 6-year warranty and thirty-gallons less capacity. Other manufactures do produce lxxx-gallon tanks and Lowe'southward does have AO Smith tanks bachelor online only. I would accept to pay the difference beyond the $650 offer.
I purchased the original fourscore-gallon tank considering I need the chapters and I assumed the 'Lifetime' warranty would allow for an even trade if/when something went wrong. The proper solution would be for Whirlpool/Lowe's to offering a replacement value for any comparable 80-gallon tank regardless of the manufacturer. Currently, similar tanks average $1300-1500. (Westinghouse due west/ Lifetime warranty at Home Depot). Lowe'south should also be able to guild the tank for in-store delivery as opposed to having me club online at my ain expense. Meanwhile, the current tank is leaking and volition soon exist out of service...

Our Whirlpool water heater needs a burner associates replaced. 2d time within the warranty period of six years. Parts have to be ordered, so y'all will be without hot water for several days to a week. The worst part is reaching them. Between my wife and I, nosotros have most 4 hours invested in sitting on concord waiting for someone in three different calls. They never answer the telephone. They give an selection to phone call dorsum. They never telephone call back. I'm and so frustrated. No Whirlpool products ever once again. I'grand sitting at my desk, hoping someone volition somewhen answer the Whirlpool line. I don't fifty-fifty have the part ordered yet after two days of no hot water. Who knows how many more hours I will need to sit hither and heed to this music on agree. It is incredible in 2021 a visitor can remain open while offer this kind of customer experience.

Owner of 20 apartments, sixteen of them have electrical water heaters and iv take natural gas units. Accept replaced over the years all 20 h2o heaters. 19 of them were replaced with Whirlpool units bought at our local Lowe's. Information technology is my stance that they are very unreliable. The tanks rust out in NO time. The electrical units last merely a piddling amend than the gas units but withal terrible. Of the 4 gas units so far I have had to replace 3 of them and the longest ane lasted 6 years and seven months!! Ane of them was just over half-dozen years and the other was 9 days abroad from warranty expiring. They replaced that one. If you have no other choice make sure to buy extended warranty if available. They only don't last!!

I purchased a 12 twelvemonth warranty, loftier terminate Whirlpool Water HEATER (OR Then I THOUGHT AT THE TIME) through Lowe'due south in 2014. Model ND50T122-403. Vi years and multiple service calls afterwards it is broken again, this time for the last time. I am ripping this garbage out. Then livid with this visitor that could requite a rip well-nigh their customers. Three years in to my "12 year warranty" it started giving me problems. Horrible HORRIBLE customer service. They will insult your intelligence. Whirlpool will non honor the warranty or stand backside their production. They merely take your money and basically requite a shrug of the shoulders or worse blame you for THEIR TERRIBLE production failing. Information technology may be unscrupulous and unethical but I guess saves them a pile of coin which is what they seem to but exist out.
The Service Tech that came for the 4th time to repair it says they see this all the time in Whirlpool water heaters. It's a Blueprint Flaw they say. I don't know most all that. I only know when I take been swindled. The electronics are garbage. The pilot lite when information technology goes out is not easily reset equally others have mentioned on this site. Will stay lit for while and then shuts downwardly. Whirlpool says, despite reams of prove to the contrary it "must exist a safety outcome in the install," which they have admittedly zero prove of therefore, they are not honoring the warranty. They are Blaming the installers, according to our service techs who tried to order the office that's supposed to be nether warranty.
The original installers, by the manner were from Lowe's, the outfit that sold me this hot mess. Another Class action lawsuit seems ripe. Or maybe the consumer protection partitioning from each land's Attorneys General would be interested in protecting their citizens from practices similar this. Lowe'southward is complicit in allowing information technology, failing to protect their customers and not calling Whirlpool out for it. I can't think of a more deserving target of consumer protection than Whirlpool. A truly horrible, expensive experience. Meet the Whirlpool logo and RUN - - DO NOT WALK -- THE OTHER Way!

Having multiple apartments I have some experience with water heaters, with that being said, old schoolhouse h2o heaters would last 30 years with basically no maintenance. Since those sometime, manual no BS flashing low-cal codes were replaced with Whirlpool make, I see abiding problems. Honeywell valve/motherboards was the worst matter that could have been put on whatever equipment. More or less they all failed within few months past warranty expiration date. Replacement office is cost almost one-half of what brand new product costs. When called client service, they are aware of said trouble only volition not assist, or recall above production. There are plenty of videos and forums of people lament about the aforementioned issue. Being poorly treated by customer service, I know that I will no longer be spending my money on whirlpool brand. iii years off of the water heater is a joke.

Bought a propane hot water heater and two years after buying it pilot wouldn't light. Had to buy a conversion kit considering they didn't make the function anymore. Now had to buy a gas valve and information technology didn't work and so went to Locke'due south and bought a new h2o heater and now they won't refund my coin for the office $300.00 with aircraft. They said they could merely replace information technology. Well I don't need information technology now because I bought a better product. Whirlpool is junk and you have to purchase the parts from them and RIP you off. Manner to take care of your customers Whirlpool. Purchase something else with your money.

This product is unsafe and should be recalled. Information technology has aluminium wires that connect the unit to the 220 Vol Power source. Aluminium and copper wire don't mix. I took a shower and was getting ready to leave for the day when I went into my garage to smell burning plastic and wires. I traced information technology to the hot water heater and discovered the wires in the Energy Smart were melted and burned. I checked with 2 Electricians who told me that the wires in the unit tin can not handle the high heat and melt. If you accept 1 get rid of it. Had I left for the 24-hour interval I would have lost my home, cars and pets. If anyone would like to see this unit of measurement I yet have it and photos.

Replaced the "brain" twice. No hot h2o for 2-four days each fourth dimension, waiting for part to make it. Now I accept to supercede the nylon bleed valve considering it won't shut off. Gonna apply brass replacement. Fortunately I take it bleed to a sump pump so house isn't flooding. Don't buy Whirlpool water heater from Lowe'southward unless you lot enjoy this kind of affair. Consolation: the folks at the help line always answer the phone and are knowledgeable. And they've heard these same complaints over and over. I guy even said to buy AO Smith every bit they are made in Tennessee instead of China.

I had a Whirlpool Natural Gas H2o Heater professionally installed on ii-27-2107. This unit came with a Honeywell controller and thermopile associates. Today is 05-18-2019 and the unit is not inoperative. The pilot is lit but the burner won't light. Here are the issues that I have come up across and then far: When I get to the Whirlpool site in that location is no direct link to Whirlpool water heaters, just kitchen appliances and washer/dryers. When I click on parts and accessories link it gives links to washers, dryers or pedestals. Once more... No information about water heaters. I scroll down to the bottom of this page and I run into a link to "All Replacement Parts" When I click that it takes me to another site managed by "RepairClinic". When I enter the model number for the h2o heater it says Non Establish. I entered the part number for the thermopile on the tag on the orange wire #321165-002 and 100078039 and again information technology returns as Part Non Found.
It's obvious that Whirlpool is putting little effort into supporting their water heaters or their customers. I called their support line and they were able to order the thermopile associates for $55 plus $27.95 in aircraft to get it here by Tuesday. Today is Saturday. So that means almost four days without hot h2o. And since this water heater was a warranty replacement for a previous i that went bad they will not encompass the price of replacement parts for the thermopile. Lesson learned: No more than Whirlpool purchases for whatever of their appliances.

This has been our 2d Whirlpool Hot Water Tank in our home in the past 14 years. The first was installed by the architect, when information technology went out we purchased a larger chapters i from Lowe's. It was professionally installed and now, later the extended warranty coverage period is expired, information technology's expired also. I would call back you should be able to go more than 7 years out of not 1, but ii Whirlpool hot water tanks. No wonder they are no longer manufacturing hot water tanks - they sucked at it. Also, if y'all exercise have one, you have to get parts from Whirlpool and pay $30 shipping. No thanks, for the toll of parts to supersede everything you're improve off getting a whole new unit.
